Well we woke up to snow on Monday morning and therefore had an unplanned long weekend. On Tuesday more snow followed and we had another day at home. Wednesday we returned to school with only 15 children showing up in Room 2. But we made sure we had a great time in the snow. Here are some pics.
Step right up!!! Welcome to Room 2's blog. Here is where you will find all the latest happenings in Room 2 at Netherby School.

Winter Tournament
Netherby School entered three teams into the Mid Canterbury Winter Tournament. Soccer, Hockey and Netball.
All three teams had a great day with the Soccer finishing the competition in 3rd place. They won 6 games in a row before losing their semi final against the eventual winners Borough by 5-1. Every child in the team played exceptionally well and the success came from excellent passing to set up the shots.
The hockey team also had some great wins with Brendon Johnson scoring 7 goals. They finished the day in 7th place.
The netball team started the day with a very tough low scoring game against Rakaia who they defeated 1-0. The netball finished the day in 11th place.
Well done to all those children who competed and thank you very much for all those parents who came down to transport, support and coach the teams. We would not be able to do it without you. :)
Also a big thank you to all the schools that helped organised the tournament. A very successful day. :)

Full speed ahead.
Welcome back to Term 3 and it has been a full on week 1. We were lucky enough to be visited by Tracey Hickman from Swimming NZ and her friend 'Koru the Kiwi' who had some fantastic dance moves. With the sun shining and more and more NZ children heading to the water to cool down Tracey explained the importance of learning how to swim and how to keep yourself and your family safe in the water, whether that be in a pool, at the beach or on a boat.
We also welcomed 15 and 16 year old students from Tokorozawa Kita who responded with singing their school song and showing us a dance. Then showed us how to write some symbols in Kanji. It was very interactive with a number of children writing Kanji using authentic calligraphy quills and ink. Afterwards the children got a lot of autographs from the Tokorozawa students. The students must have felt like celebrities.
